Birdseye and Sherpa Sherpa-Birdseye close up Birdseye Birdseye is a very durable fabric, very thin and 100% unbleached cotton. This is probably the fabric the diapers your grandmother used were made of. They came in huge rectangular pieces that you could fold in many methods. And they lasted through many children. We use 8 layers in the soaker pad and 3 layers in the body. Sherpa is a *very* soft fabric. Composed of 80% cotton and 20% polyester. The poly part is the backing so only all cotton ever touches the child. The poly content will increase the life of the diaper. Sherpa is actually a knit terry which has had one side brushed, giving the soft feel. Sherpa will *towel down* after repeated washings.
